(Un) Happy Anniversary

(Warning: disturbing images)

It's been just over two years since AWOL nutjob chickenhawk pResident George W. Bush chimed in with "bring 'em on," when asked about the deteriorating security situation in Iraq. Today in Iraq marked the anniversary with a summary of what's happened since.

Um, it might be a summary, but it'll take you a good couple of hours to even scan through...and even if you can't make it through the whole thing, the sheer volume of material is quite sobering.

Remember, the Iraqi civilians suffer too when they lose family, friends, or loved ones.
Battery Still Recharging

Sorry I didn't make a note of this last week, but I've been away from my red state home since Saturday.

But not entirely out of the loop, even if I've been awfully slow to post. The bright side is that the chronic tendonitis that affects my left arm seems to be responding to the rest.

However, in spite of a fantastic time--staying at the home of a wonderful friend, with the beach literally across the street, not to mention getting a tour of the city and surrounding region from someone who REALLY knows the place--this vacation will always have a terribly sad reminder. My heart goes out to those who've lost family, friends, or loved ones.

I also agree wholeheartedly with Whiskey Bar's appeal to reason in light of this very real tragedy. There is nothing partisan about pain and suffering.

I'll be back later, and again, apologies for no real warning about this vacation from the keyboard (and the office). See you then.
