On the Local Front

OK, technically this letter to my local rag comes from Rayne (about an hour and a half west of here) but the fact that it was published speaks volumes, and not in a good way:

This is a letter to thank and congratulate our outstanding Louisiana senator, David Vitter, for his wise and correct vote against the nomination of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.

I assure you he's not alone around here in being more than a few bricks shy of a full load; indeed, that's not even the only story in today's edition that makes me, well, cringe with embarrassment. But, then again, it's not like we're lacking the same on a larger playing field. Hell, you could call this letter sort of a bush league version of Powerline's famous paean to all things Dubya.

Sigh.

It really is an uphill battle.
